The largest expense of any compressed air system is energy, not equipment or installation. Compressed Air Efficiency from Xcel Energy is the newest conservation program designed to promote efficiency and provides for:
- Funding for audits to diagnose problems
- Rebates for energy-saving improvements
Compressed Air Efficiency, from Xcel EnergySM, features two steps to help you identify and implement ways to save on energy for compressed air.
Step 1 – Diagnosis
The study includes:
- An assessment of operating compressed air systems, including analysis of supply and demand, and airflow and /or electric metering
- A written report that identifies leaks and waste, and associated energy costs
- A list of system recommendations, paybacks, rebate opportunities and estimated energy savings
- Preapproval is required for study funding
Step 2 – Implementation
Earn rebates for equipment updates or system improvements that result in lower energy use or higher production from your system
- Customers who participate in a preapproved Compressed Air Efficiency study can receive up to $400 per kW saved
- Preapproval is required prior to equipment purchase and installation
- Smaller compressors that are under the 50 horsepower requirement for the study funding may be eligible for an equipment rebate.
Xcel Energy will fund a portion of the study costs:
- Less than 50 hp Not available
- 50 – 99 hp 100% of study costs up to $2,500
- 100 hp or greater 75% of study costs up to $15,000
- Study preapproval is required
